Getting ready for Sunday and its only Monday.

Well the time is finally here. I received the email I have been long awaiting for the other day. Trail work at the Cascade Classic will begin on Sunday. I spent most of the day trying to finish up a toy box Ive been working on and picking up all the trash out of the yard from our crazy wind storm we had. What little time I had left I got the old chainsaw and leaf blower out and blew the dust off of them from all the wood work I have been doing in the shed. They want me to replace the old bridge that runs over the pond as it was getting a little week last year and we dont want anyone going in the pond. Its going to be nice to get outside and do some things since the weather is suppose to be nice. I was hoping to get a little fishing in tomorrow but from the rain we had the creeks around the area are pretty muddy. I dont have to go back to work till Wednesday so I am gonna take a trip down to Harrisburg to check out the Bass Pro Shop down there. Every since I bought a boat last year we have been fishing over the summer like crazy and Im hoping to find some good stuff for cat fishing. Melissa enjoys fishing too so we always have a blast when we go.

The bridge Im replacing.

Weather 2010.

All of this crazy weather really has me wondering about what is going on with mother nature here as of late. A quick google search and you could come up with some pretty crazy stories about freakish weather and events happening around the world. Very powerful hurricanes, tsunamis, earthquakes, and snow storms just to name a few. It really does make one wonder if all this Al Gore propaganda could be real. I mean the facts are there people. Ice caps are melting, weird places are flooding, and snow is falling in Florida. Do you really think that this is all just a stream of bad luck? Maybe it is, but only time can tell. Do I think there is gonna be a end to the world in our lifetime because of it? No I dont think so, but it could make for some very interesting news headlines as it already has.

Second Job??

Well with work being really slow this winter, I have picked up a little hobby of making furniture. Antique looking furniture. I have already built Chase a toy box, a bin to put the trash can in, a few shelves, two end tables and Im about to finish up a pretty nice book case. My goals in mind were to have just about every piece of furniture in the house hand made by Spring. Seems as of here late I have been better at wood working than any of the other numerous hobbies I have. I can say I have been having a pretty good time with it. Well that was up until yesterday. Seems everyone that has found out about me doing this wants me to make them something of their own. Matter of fact if I was to sit down and make out a list I would probably have just about enough work to last me through next winter. So you know what I say. Let the money roll in. I know that once you start getting paid to do something it seems more like a job but Im not gonna rush anything. Hey if they want me to build it then they can wait. I do have a few more projects in store for myself before I get started on theirs. Besides its almost time to start trail work for the cascade classic and my weekends will be gone. Here are a few pics of what I have done. Enjoy!

Ski Trip to Saw Mill

Well between Saturday and Today my legs are officially toast. Skiing has really taken it out of them but I need to get prepared for our upcoming trip to Camel Back. I figured we would hit up the ski slopes at saw mill to warm up due to the price being cheaper but boy was I wrong. Seems the price up there has went way up sent last year and now it costs just as much as the big slopes now. Skiing on Saturday I found out it was free ski Monday so I took advantage. I had so much fun that I stooped by the local ski shop and purchased me a set of fishers with some really cool boots. No Greg I cant snowboard but I have never really tried. I will stick with what I am good at. I will post some pictures of them soon as they wont be ready for pick up till Friday. Fitting the bindings and all. It will save me the 25 to 35 bucks I will spend on equipment rental for now on. Well here are some videos.

I bet you never did this with Flat Stanley Greg.

Hunting Season 2009

Well this hunting season has been a pretty successful one. I have enough food in the freezer for at least a few months. Its funny how people view these creatures as lovely little furry critters that seem so innocent when I view them as steaks, burgers, jerky and not to mention bologna. You see I have hit a few of these with my car and I would be the first to tell you thank god for people like me that believe in population control. We had a bear at Melissa's mom and dads that raised quite havoc on there house their bird house and threw a grill off a two story porch that led me to believe that they are not very innocent. Not to mention the pesky little bugger that upset my trash can and led me to hours of diaper piece picking up fun. Well here are some pictures.

This is the buck I shot this year.

Here are a couple of cute little rodents.

This is my buddy Ray's Buck.

Here is Steve's Buck.

This is Dewayne's Bear.

And this is Cody's Buck.

Melinda and Greg sent me a flat stanley for my birthday so I have to take him along on some adventures coming up to blog about. I plan on taking him skiing with us on Saturday and when we go to the Poconos in February. Greg I will try my hardest to start blogging more. Till then......

Home from the Holiday.

Well its Tuesday Morning and im finally home. The past week has been a long one. We left out Wednesday Morning to North Carolina to spend Thanksgiving with my Mom. We arrived there to find her cleaning the house and cooking pies. As we sat down for meatloaf dinner she explained to us that the oven wasn't cooking right. Great! The night before Thanksgiving and we had no oven to cook a turkey in. Well maybe if she would have just let Greg deep fry the turkey this wouldn't have been such a big deal. Instead it was off to find a oven on thanksgiving day. We did end up with one but turkey dinner was a little late. I talked her out of Black Friday shopping all the way up till we were heading to Tennessee and saw a super walmart sign. She just had to run in for 8 dollar wrangler jeans for her husband Todd. We ended up shopping in Johnson City with my sister Melinda and Aunt Olga for a couple of hours. We hit up Target first and I had lots of fun hanging little girls clothes off of every ones purses. I had to send Greg pictures of the mayhem due to the fact he had to work and miss out on all the fun. Saturday morning we sent Mom out to Pals for breakfast. What a mistake. She ended up running to Big Lots and didn't have it back to us for almost an hour. Melinda, Greg, Olga, Joe, and I went for a bike ride to Bays Mountain later that afternoon. We got there and found out Olga forgot her helmet, it was kinda funny she forgot it because she normally wears it while shes in the car on the way there. Melinda, Greg, and I went on ahead while Joe and Olga drove back to get it. It ended up being my worst ride ever. Over the handlebars twice, blew a back tire with no pump, and broke my Garmin. It ended up being a Greg yelling at me to pick the bike up and run because we were gonna be eating by bears if we weren't out of the park by dark. Sunday morning we were woke up by Mom ringing the doorbell at five o'clock. I still don't know why. We ended up eating breakfast at Melinda and Greg's and hit the road home around eleven. They say that the day before Thanksgiving is the worst travel day but I think there wrong. We had the worst trip up 81. People just don't seem to know how to drive when cars are all around. We would be stopped on the road for thirty minutes for no reason at all. We ended up getting home around 10:00pm. I hurried and un loaded the car and packed up the hunting gear to head for the cabin Monday. What a bad first day to the season it was. We had heavy wind, fog, and on and off rain all day. So no big buck yet but I have two weeks. I will let you know how the hunting goes.
